About MOST

Specialized Nanoparticle Suspensions

Microporous Oxides Science and Technology, LLC (“MOST”) prepares stable suspensions of nanoparticulate oxides (SiO2, TiO2, ZrO2, AlOOH, and mixed oxides) for use as coatings on several substrates to produce self-assembled porous thin-films for a wide variety of applications.

These applications include: self-cleaning glass, photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) materials for purifying air, photoelectrocatalytic oxidation (PECO) materials for purifying water, catalysts for purifying feed-streams of CO2, materials for thin-film batteries or ultra-capacitors, thin-film coatings to prolong material life (i.e., corrosion control), catalytic film for electrolysis to generate hydrogen, electrodes employed in capacitive deionization (CDI) to produce ion-free water, and membranes for gas and liquid separations.

ABOUT THE MOST TEAM

Walt Zeltner, Ph.D., MOST co-founder, is a physical chemist with over 30 years of experience in synthesizing suspensions of nanoparticulate oxides and in studying the catalytic, photocatalytic, and photoelectrocatalytic uses of these materials for removing contaminants from water and air streams while working with Dr. Anderson. He is responsible for preparing the materials sold by MOST and serves as its primary contact.

Dean Tompkins, Ph.D., MOST co-founder, has formal training in mechanical engineering and is a subject matter expert in the application of MOST’s materials, particularly as they apply to the treatment of low-concentration contaminants in air and water systems. Dr. Tompkins serves as the chief design engineer for MOST.

Marc Anderson, Ph.D., MOST co-founder, was a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison until retiring in 2015. While there, he developed the nanoparticle materials offered by MOST and studied applications of these materials in areas as diverse as air and water treatment, energy storage, corrosion resistance, improved concrete, scratch-resistant surfaces, and other applications. More details about these various applications are available elsewhere on our site as well as at marc-tech.com. He currently serves as the Chief Technical Officer for MOST.

John Etter, MOST CEO, has 20+ years experience in the financial services industry. He has been a vice president of a large Eastern financial services company, American general manager for an international firm, and owner/entrepreneur involved in distribution. He is involved in several startup companies formed out of research performed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
